Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Hi all
Those of us from SDAS who are unfortunate not to be going to Whirlpool might like to get together tomorrow night, Friday, the forecast is looking good. If anyone's interested let me know.

I'd be on for that Paul. Couldn't make it before about 9.45pm though.
PS. Any chance you would have a flat piece of scrap wood about 2'x 2' to place my scope on (Old countertop?). Soft grass/ground meant my dob base was shifting when I moved it rendering my Computer object locator useless the last night. ie. it would be accurate till the next shift of the scope on the grass and then I had to do a whole new alignment. Was getting about 2 objects in each time before it would happen again. Gave up using the COL after a while because of that.
If you don't have any wood as described or if you wouldn't have room in the car to transport it, don't worry. Will just set up on the hard dirt track and move the scope if a car comes along. Had 3 cars go past the other night. 3 new star aligns would be a lot less hassle than the other nights problems!
Think, I am going to keep it simple tomorrow night and just bring the scope, bino's and 'The Night Sky Observers' guides and leave the platform, laptop and table and all the other crap at home.

I have a 4' by 4' 1/2 inch plywood in the van if you want to use it to place the scope.

Hi
We usually meet at Healy's Pottery outside Kilmacanogue at 9 and then go on to our observing site in Ballyremon. If you are coming from Dublin take the N11 until you come to Kilmacanogue and then take the exit to the right towards roundwood and Glendalough. After a few minutes you will come to a bend with a sort of layby on the right hand side. This is where we meet.
