We are all very sad to hear of the death yesterday of one of our most esteemed members, Rev. Grattan Bannister. Grattan was a very special person whom I got to know well over the past ten years or so. He was a thorough gentleman and loved to talk. He often said 'why use one word when you can use two'. His skill as an astronomer would have been difficult to beat and he could read the night sky better than anyone I know.
He is a great loss and his friends are going to miss him very much.
