Here are some links to the report and photos on our Forum from the launch of the N. Ireland Amatur Astronomy society on Monday night, with your own Dave Mc Donald giving the talk and receiving a presentation.
We were also honoured by the presence of guests from Armagh Observatory, Prof Mark Bailey, Dr. David Asher, and Dr. Miruna Popescu, and the chairman of the IAA, Mr. Pat O' Neill, and we'd like to thank them all for attending.

Looked like it was a fun night, well done guys! Also, thanks Mia for the invitation, but I am sorry I couldn't go. I would have liked to meet you on your home turf, and take in the free refreshments...
Did you get many new members on the night out of curiosity?
Seanie.

Twas a night to remember alright. Great to have Dave McD there complete with Armagh Obs reps to make sure he dotted his i's and crossed his t's.
Some recently joined members turned up on the night and the forum has gotten a lot more members plus we have also had some requests for stories/material from the press. Promising start to 2009.
Seanie you also missed Mia singing but you can get a repeat at Cosmos.

Actually she was brilliant. Lots of open mouth expressions of astonishment in the audience and cries for 'Did anyone get that on video?'
