I've just been speaking with a very excited Dave McDonald who just in the past hour has had his second asteroid discovery confirmed by the IAU.

2009 FM14 is the fourth asteroid discovery from the team and of course is Dave's second personal discovery. 2009 FM14 is likely to be around 2-4km across and is a main belt asteroid. 2009FM14 was picked up last night (remember all that haze?) at magnitude 19.2(ish) pretty close to M53 in coma berinices.

I'm sure you will join with me in congratulating Dave on his latest discovery. A wonderful accolade for a wonderful guy.

Well done from me Dave. A fantastic acheivement.

Regards and Clear Skies,

Dave.

Absolutely amazing. The two Daves are certainly putting Ireland on the astronomical map.

Congrats on your brilliant work guys.

They're under starter's orders and they're off!.....
McDonald got a flyer with 2008TM9 and is the first to show....
Grennan was slowly away....
There is Grennan making a challenge with McDonald under pressure, but finding nothing....
Its Grennan and McDonald, with Grennans 2008US3 now theres nothing between these two.....
And with a hundred yards to go, it's the Grennan, drawing clear with 2009EN1....
Oh, Oh dear Grennan looks like he's been distracted with c/2009 F1
and McDonald is coming with a late run! McDonald is coming with a late run with 2009 FM14....
McDonald and Grennan, stride for stride, length and line, it must be a photo.
Well, one hell of a race.
McDonald may just have got up in the last stride but I-, I wouldn't like to put my money on it.
And now it's back to topless darts at Roehampton

:P

Theres nothing like a bit of healthy competition now is there guys ;) Nothing for 150 years and then 4 come along at once!

Well Done to both of you!
