It has been like that almost all week with the weather. Save for Tuesday, every day was cloud and showers, yet it cleared in the evening for us to watch NLC's... We don't care about the NLC's THIS time on Saturday!

Thanks Frank.
I hope you are correct re the weather - 100% cloud for the day according to metcheck
pretty much the same forecast at the moment on metoblue, although maybe towards the end it might pick up.

Professor Luke Drury DIAS opens SOLARFEST 2009
Kevin Smith gives a very entertaining talk at Dunsink Observatory
Dee talks about sketch techniques and all that good stuff
Sally Russell talks about white light sketching in front of a mini solar sketching
exhibition , which included sketches from Erika Rix , Les Cowley, Dee, Sally and Jeff Young.
Eamonn Scullion gives a cracking talk on solar physics
Nick Howes covers all bases with his talk on solar imaging
Micheal O'Connell on the Eclipse , great finishing presentation
India !!!!! there is a MONSOON coming
Kids enjoy the 3D posters and outreach material from Goddard
I have to say it was a great day for our first SOLARFEST
Could not thank our speakers enough for their wonderful contributions
Thanking all attendees for their donations to Downs Syndrome Ireland
and eating lots of ice cream.
So tried now , maybe some more later

I did not see anyone with a video recorder at all, and we had no person on the case.
There were several people taking photo's so there should be some more to add to the post later this week. A recording would have been a good idea so if anyone would like to do that for the next SOLARFEST let us know. Thanks

It was. Very little technical stuff, suited the crowd just right methinks, will make it a nice one-day family-oriented astronomy event for sure.
