I'm kicking myself that I didn't see this - Carolyn Porco gives a great presentation. I saw her do a TED presentaion (online) - she is passionate about her subject - a coup to have her at Dunsink and other the other Irish venues.

I rang Blackrock in Cork today to see what the story is with the talk there, they basically told me that you aint getting in unless you're a club member and they're expecting to fill up the place as it is, so there aint any room at the inn.
A bunch of us were going to go, but thats on the rocks now.

I've a babysitter organized
And also a post up on our boards announcing it.
What does on the rocks mean?
Its only by chance I've seen this.

OK now a request , if anyone was at the talk and took photographs , would they mind either sending them to me or posting them here. I am looking for images in particular of the crowd in the room, and images from the rear looking toward Carolyn.

Dunsink was full weeks ago, way before SOLARFEST and we had to turn away hundreds of requests for tickets as the meridian room while lovely, is not infinite. When I invited Carolyn to Ireland about a year ago, I was thrilled when she agreed. It was simply fortuitous that she was in London at the 48th Cassini Project Science Group meeting at Greenwich Observatory, and fulfilled her invitation to come here.

However Carolyn will be back perhaps next year and DIAS will host her in a larger venue with all the trimmings. So when that is dated I will make an announcement here.


I was absolutely delighted to see the Meridian room bulging at the seams. Carolyn captured everyone and delivered a world class talk.
