Weather on Friday evening is looking good.

Is anyone interested in going out observing?

Meet at 9PM at Healy's pottery.

Michael.

Can't make it Michael, I'm away that night. Hope the weather behaves and you get some observing in.

How did ye get on lads? Looked like a magnificent night out there. Bulling so I am. First Clear New Moon Weekend in months, Wonderful Weather, Astronomical darkness....and I bloody had to work late and while me scope isn't in a hundred pieces anymore, it isn't yet...[Starwars quote]An armed and fully operational...battlestation"[/Starwars Quote] :D

Hi Keith,

I was a great night. I saw the milky way from Dublin (OK, technically it was Wicklow) for the first time in years. I actually thought it was clouds at first before I copped on!!
I also saw the double cluster with the naked eye - another first from Dublin.

We had great views of Jupiter. We also saw Uranus, Neptune, Comet Christensen and I can even claim to have seen Pluto (or my scope can anyway).

EDIT: We saw the veil nebula through Dave's UHC filter.

Dave went off fuzzy hunting and I went off looking at Messier objects.

I also got to play with Cartes Du Ciel v3 and control the scope with it.

We packed in after midnight as the wind was picking up and although not cold it made the scopes difficult to use and we were afraid stuff would get blown away.

Pity you weren't there I was looking forward to seeing Kitt.

There's always next week.

Michael.

I actually shouldn't have asked how you got on. Now I feel even more jealous and disgusted that I couldn't make it after your wonderful description.

Was it just yourself and Dave in the end then? Its great having at least one observing buddy but the best nights are when there is a big gang. Great observing and great chat and craic too.
:D
