Halloween Star Party in Bray was created by DeirdreKelleghan
I have been so fed up with the weather getting in the way of Galilean Nights
and astronomy in general, I decided to have an impromptu star party outside my
house last night. There was a good few clear spells between 5:30 when I set up and 7:45 when I finished up. During that time I had about 50 children and parents trick or treating
on my road.
They all got a nice surprise treat of creepy craters on the moon.
Some were lucky to get a view of Jupiter and its moons if it was not behind clouds when they were with me. Umbrellas were at the ready and several viewings were under cover.
Moon view treats and chocolate given to all victims
I had the best fun and plan to do this every year if its clear at Halloween.
Witches and Ghouls hang around for dark evil clouds to clear
Monsters Moon Watch Moment
Grim reaper cheers himself up moon watching.
A bit of a Joker checks out Tycho , with an eyeball on Hell.

Excellant Deirdre
That was an unexpected treat for a trick or treat!
The captions are very good - I particuarly like the Grim Reaper cheering himself up and the reference to evil clouds...
The idea of using halloween as a bit of outreach is really an super example of seeing an opportunity for outreach and grasping it.
I'm glad it worked and that you enjoyed it.
