IAS/SDAS Observing on Saturday 3rd was created by michael_murphy
Hi All,
Just a head's up, if the weather is OK on Saturday I'll try to organise an observing session at the Sugarload carpark.
There is a conjunction between Mercury and Venus so we might start at 6:30/7ish.
Err, maybe 7:30/8ish (still on GMT!!).
I'll make a decision on Saturday afternoon.
Michael.

Hi All,
We've decided to go ahead with the observing despite the patchy forecast.
The plan is to meet up at Healy's Pottery at 10PM and then travel up to the observing site.
Please be sure to be at the meeting point before 10.
The meeting point is on the clubs and maps under SDAS meeting point.
Michael.

We had a great evening in the end.
Myself, David Brannigan, Mike, Tony and Aubrey went along.
We went up to the Sugarloaf and met Aubrey who had gone up earlier.
It was patchy cloud and quite windy so Mike suggested that we go to a spot he knew of outside Annamoe.
I think it was here . Paul, you had mentioned a spot nearby is this it?
Aubry decided to go home as he was up early so the rest of us went down to Annaboe. The sky was completely clear and the site is quite sheltered and so the wind was not a problem.
We stayed until 3AM as it was beginning to cloud over.
I finally managed to track down 3C273 which had been on my list for some time:) .
All in all a good location and a good night.
Thanks to all who turned up,
Michael.

Hi Dave,
It looked like a faint star. A bit dissapointing for an object 2.4 Billion light years away spewing out vast amounts of energy:laugh: .
I forgot to add an additional attendee to our gathering.
At about 2ish a Garda car arrived drove around us and then left preseumably satisified we were just a bunch of harmless lunatics.
Michael.
