Microcosmos By Frances Lambe

Make a Late Date this week!

This Friday evening, the National Craft Gallery, Ireland, invites you for a glass of wine and an informal tour of the current exhibition. Blackrock Castle Observatory’s Education Officer Frances McCarthy will mediate the tour of Microcosmos and will focus on Lambes’ research into astronomy and discuss the relationship evident between art and science. All welcome.

Time: 6.30 pm
Date: Friday June 25th
Venue: National Craft Gallery, Castle Yard, Kilkenny
All welcome.

Microcosmos is a solo exhibition of work by Frances Lambe, a Dundalk based ceramicist at the National Craft Gallery, co-commissioned by Millennium Court Arts Centre and the Basement Gallery in Dundalk. Lambe is an award-winning artist whose exhibition as part of the Crafts Council of Ireland’s National Craft Gallery stand at COLLECT at London’s Saatchi Gallery in May 2010, was a sell out success. She works with a variety of different clays from heavily grogged terracotta through white stoneware to porcelain. This new body of work springs from visual research into geography, biology, botany and astronomy, highlighting Lambe’s fascination with the visual ‘inter-relatedness’ of microscopic life.

The exhibition runs until July 18th.
