Thanks Mike and Seanie,
Deep thanks and sincere gratitude to this forum and IFAS.
The great work of many of the members has been an inspiration for me all this time.
Glad to be a member here!
If I may propose an idea for astrometry observations:
There is an observational campaign for (1036) Ganymed going on, organized by IOTA/IOTA-ES:
See:
www.iota-es.de/ganymed_2011.html
The call for observations includes both predicted occultation events and astrometry.
Ganymed is the largest known NEA, almost 40 km in size. It's approaching us and it is getting *very* bright, it will reach mag 8 in October.
Astrometric observations of this object during this summer could be sent to MPC
and to IOTA (e.g. to Apostolos Christou, e-mail at
www.arm.ac.uk/~aac/
)
and could help narrowing the uncertainties in the occultation predictions for events in the near future.
Irish astronomers could undoubtedly contribute to this task!

ps: Maybe I should post this announcement in a new post, Seanie?
