Speaker on 12th Sept is Tom Bonner, experienced amateur astronomer and member of CAC committee.
Next month: Mon 10th October The Transit of Venus. Speaker Prof Paul Callanan (UCC).
The next transit of Venus will occur in 2012, on June 5–6. Previous transits have been significant events in the history of science. The 1882 transit was observed from Cork's Crawford Observatory (as was the 2004 transit).
