I was glad to meet up with you all tonight. It is always a pleasure to chat to Liam Smyth about recent observations. Unfortunately, the weather was too bad.
I am just wondering, Michael, -will the Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers be interested in observing the Venus - Jupiter conjunction on Tuesday 13th March if skies are clear? Wide field telescopes and binoculars would provide stunning views. What do you think, Michael?

Aubrey.

With my 80mm Stellarvue F80 finderscope with 300mm Focal length at F3.75 I could fit both in the same 4.3º TFOV field in my 100ºAFOV 13mm Ethos eyepiece at a magnification of 23x :D

Pure class, Calibos. Perhaps you are making a date for Sandymount (13th)? It must be possible for your scope and my 70mm scope to view both planets and the 4 Galilean moons in one go!!

Yours, Aubrey.

I won't know till closer to the date whether I'll be free that night.

What I must do however is try and get a look at each planet individually this week and put it in the FOV where it would be on the 13th. While there is no doubt I'll get them all in the FOV at 23x and while the Ethos EP's are pretty much perfectly corrected to the edge of field, the Stellarvue is a very fast achromat which might mean I'll be fitting 2 very mushy planets and 4 very mushy Galillean moons in the FOV :D

Hi Aubrey,

I'm interested. Have you considered a location? We'd have to be on site from about 6.30 so traffic could be an issue for Sandymount.

The Sugarloaf would be good as it has reasonable western horizon.

Michael.
