Yesterday was quite a day in our clubs history. Seanie Morris had arranged a day of astronomy talks in a local youth club in Tullamore. the morning was split between four groups of children (around 20 per sitting) receiving between 35 to 40 minutes of astronmy talks on various topics from the scale of the solar system to the speed of light, the size of various stars, the Apallo missions to name a few. Truth be known - Seanie was the instigator and main speaker for the day with meself chipping in now and then
Each talk ended with a gift for everybody in the audience....free memebership of MAS for a year for the kids : cheer: (this was produced by Seanie with the names of the Children already printed on the certificates)

well who knows, somewhere someone or two may become interested enough to avail of the membership.

A great day altogether

Note: interesting to discover the amount of children who owned a telescope or binoculars already - if only we could get more shilren interested in astronomy :)

Good report Deco, and thanks for the help, we made a good team!

The youth centre were in touch again today to give a massive 'thank you', the kids were chirping about it again today. :) The centre definitely want us back again, maybe in August.

And you're right, 2 in 3 kids - at least - have and use a telescope and/or binoculars.
