Haven't been on the forum for a while. Hope all is well with everyone.
I'm heading up to the sugar loaf tonight for an observing session with a mate. If anyone else wants to brave the chill, I'll be up there around 9pm. All the forecasts says it will be clear 'un.
P.S. I'll be the overweight outline burning my fingers (and primary) with coffee.

Welcome back Sean; how is the big dob?
Unfortunately, I can't join you tonight. Enjoy the session, and do keep warm, it will be quite chilly up there!

I'd love to get up there Sean, but I can't, I'm hoping to snatch an hour or two in the back garden. I would believe that the wind will be bitter up there, as it is so exposed, you might end up throwing the coffee down your jumper to keep warm.

Aw, pity you lads can't make it. Dob is fine (although I haven't talked to him in a while).
Can you suggest a better place (more sheltered) that we might try?

Awww that would have been good , a darker place, just saw your post now. I was in Bray sketching it and showing M31 and Panstarrs to neighbours passing by.

You can try Trooperstown Wood Sean, it's just before Laragh, it's opposite the Trooperstown Lodge, take a left and follow the road. It is in a dip and gives great protection from the wind. One thing I have found about Trooperstown is that you are more prone to lens misting, but it's a very comfortable, and very dark, site.
