IAS/SDAS meeting on May 13th was created by johnflannery
Hi all,
The final IAS/SDAS talk before the summer break is this Monday, May 13th,
at 8pm in Gonzaga College, Ranelagh, Dublin. The speaker is Kevin Berwick whose
talk is titled "Urban Astronomy".
For many of us, life often gets in the way of pursing our hobby so we
sometimes just have to grab a chance observe the sky for a few minutes from
our backyard. Kevin will tell us what can be seen by the urban astronomer
and how filters, other equipment, and observing techniques can improve the
view of celestial sights from urban areas.
Hope to see you there!
John

Very fine lecture last night at Gonzaga. Kevin was very good at explaining things simply to basic amateurs. And John was excellent highlighting the upcoming triple planetary conjuction with Mercury, Venus and Jupiter.

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Gutted that I missed the lecture, unfortunately work commitments kept me away. Hope everyone had a good night.

Not to worry, Paul. I maybe organizing an observing session at Sandymount on Friday night. I'm checking out the weather at present -seems possible to go out under the heavens once again.
