How about Blue & White? They make a fetching combination!
Excellent work though Dave. I like 001, but I wouldn't discard it's negative.

I can add colour to the logo, but I'd prefer if the colours had some symbolic significance- unfortunately Kildare's county colours are a mixture of plain white, and er, white. Any ideas people?

001 looks great.
As for colours, perhaps try and incorporate the 3 primary colours One colour for "KAS", one for the ring and one for the background of the leaf.
How does that sound?

Jaysus, hold the sheep idea, stick with the leaf and forget the blue and white
Next thing those Laois men will turn up at KAS meetings in their wellies
(sorry Shane)
Good work Dave

OK folks,
added a splash of colour... bear with me on the concept BS...
The longer version of the logo has a 'swoosh' added to the right. This represents an observatory (you know, the hole where the telescope sticks out of the dome)
A002 - The green represents your friendly neighbourhood curragh, or compliments the IFAS identity
A003 - Believe it or not, this kinda blue is the Newbridge town colour - since we'll be meeting there...
A004 - Michael O' Connells primary colours- adjusted the tone a little so they compliment each other. Astronomers shouldn't need an explaination))))

Dave,
personally I think No. 4 looks great. Not sure if the swoosh does anything unless it looked like a comet.
Too many colours and intricacies may add unneccessary printing costs.
Let get some consensus and call it a wrap tomorrow.
