Hi,

A special extra night public observing night has been arranged next Saturday (8th March 2014 at 8pm) beside the Sandymount Martello Tower, Dublin 4. (Note that our regular night on the evening before, i.e. Fri 7th March also takes place).

This commemorates John Dobson (1915-2014), the pioneer of Sidewalk Astromomy and inventor of the Dobsonian mount. The night events is part of the international sidewalk night ISAN 7.

The Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers (a section of the the IAS) pioneered Sidewalk Astronomy in Ireland over 25 years ago. It was among the very first sidewalk astronomy on this side of the Atlantic.

Please see IAS website for more details.

Thanks John. I plan to be with the Dublin Sidewalk Astronomers on both nights.

Aubrey.
