New evidence of massive black hole

Chinese scientists said on Wednesday they had gathered evidence that shows a giant object in the center of our galaxy is a super-massive black hole.

Zhi-Qiang Shen and researchers at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory captured radio waves emitted just beyond the edge of the mysterious object, known as Sagittarius A, with a system of 10 radio telescopes spread across the United States.

In a report in the science journal Nature they said it "provides strong evidence that Sgr A is a super-massive black hole."

Cool, mind you I can't say I'm surprised ot jhear there is a black hole in our galaxy. Still nice to see stronger evidence though.

This is not new information by a long shot. Read Fulvio Melia's book "The black hole at the centre of our Galaxy" published in April 2003 for a synopsis of the work already done on this subject.
How much more proof have the Chinese uncovered?
Sagitarius A is certainly the centre of our Galaxy and is DEFINITELY a supermassive black hole.
I urge you to get a copy of this book and read it you won't be bored by any means. Also by Fulvio Melia is "The Edge of Infinity - supermassive black holes in the Universe", also well worth a read for those interested in the topic.
