Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried looking at the ISS through a scope. Heavens Above gives predictions as Albert points out and for those who have goto scopes you can download files from the internet onto your contorller to track them. I've tried it myself once or twice but didn't completely succeed. Anyone here tried it? What sort of magnification would you need in order to make out detail? Any tips?

I've never had any success tracking satellites through the scope controller. I'd guess that you would need to have the scope very accuratly aligned for this to work, something which I dont bother doing to that level of accuracy!
I've seen reports (cant find URL now) of folks who have caught the ISS on camcorder and then stacked the images to get a fairly good image.
Cheers,
~Al

On the Meade telescopes home page there's a gallery section where a couple of pictures of the ISS and a space shuttle have been posted. The picture stunned me the first time I saw it. Follow this link;
