Some of us down here are wondering if anyone knows what elevation the sun will be at the start of the transit as I think it will be 1hr20m after sunrise.
We are trying to find a site to view from and this info will be helpful.

Hi all,
with reference to the vt slash 2004 dot org site's animations of the transit, does anyone here have or know where I can get .avi or .mpeg versions of the animations? Powerpoint will not play these Quicktime .mov movies unfortunately, and I can't seem to find these versions of similar transit movies any where on the net... Also, I can't get a decent free trial converter - there are no free ones to use (or so it seems).
Please help!

It is quicker just to download Quicktime free from www.apple.com instead of worrying about converters etc.
I've done that Mark, have Quicktime 6 and all... the problem is the Microsoft vs Apple scenario. Windows Media Player (9) will not play Quicktime dedicated files e.g. movie clips with the .mov extension. Thus, Powerpoint will not play them either. Media Player has no converter built in to play them.
Thats why I'm looking for the converter. Its in a presentation for TAS next week.
