I was looking for more info on other features that are visible such as festoons and dark patches etc, I have been looking at Jupiter on and of over the past week or two and I noticed that some are very prominent, Was hoping to get a visual before I went to the eyepiece, but as dave said the planetarium programs really do not update the jpegs.
I think the site eamonn supplied will prove useful in highlighting any regions of particular activity.
