Diagonal line running across Jupiter was created by eansbro
It has just been discovered that there is a diagonal line running across Jupiter, this showed up on the 16th June. The diagonal line shows up from the NPR near the CM to the equator near the p limb. It is definitely real, as others in the UK have picked it up on there images. It rotates with the planet.
Has any body here seen it on there images yet?

A diagonal line?? are you saying that this feature is not parallel but perpendicular with the main belts and zones !!
Do you know where it is relative to the GRS, or at what time it was seen, so we can figure out when it'll be visible next.

Has to be a chance alignment of cloud features. Jupiter's differential rotation is so extreme and so rapid any such alignment would have disappeared within minutes.

Two amateur astronomers in the UK have the images
David Arditti
www.davidarditti.co.uk/observatory.html
You can contact him for those images
Also Dave Tyler took similar images on the 16th June, same time.
The Diagonal line is at 45 degs. to the main belts. The GRS was on the limb. The times of Arditti's images were 21.09 to 21.21 hrs.
I agree pmgisme,it could be a chance alignment. I just checked up ALPO-Japan. I don't see in the recent images there for that feature. Although I haven't spent time correlating the time zones for that area on the planet.
