Hi Trev,

Thanks for the clarification!

I was under the false impression that the ND3.8 was strictly for photographical use and, in part, it was due to the 15x more light it lets through.

I do know that the Solar Continuum must be used in conjunction with the UV-IR/Cut, so it all starts to make sense right now.

I suspect my optical train should be:

ND3.8 -> OTA -> UV-IR/Cut -> Solar Continuum -> eye/camera

Yep, that's exactly how mine was setup - just without the AstroPhysics refractor :lol:

I was out taking a few sunset type pics last tuesday, to test the new lens, and was surprised that the camera picked up sunspot 0960 as the sun was setting behind a distant mountain. (Only got around to processing the pics today!!)

No Filters used!!!! Just the low sky atmosphere.

Canon 350D, Sigma 170 - 500mm lens @ 500mm, ISO 100, F14, 1/100 sec.
