Comet C/2009 R1 ( McNaught ) was created by Keith g
Hi all, I think it's high time we got a discussion going on this potentially good comet, the latest predictions indicate that it will be brightest at magnitude 2? in the coming weeks, low in the north after sunset.
Although the brightness will be hard to predict, hopefully it will put on a good show. Does anybody plane on trying to observe it soon??

About time we got a decent naked eye comet again... Remember 2003 and 2004's rich reserves of comets? Those summers were kind of like what we had this past weekend as well...

Seanie,
Unfortunately the timing is very poor in the sense the comet gains some altitude after the onset of astro twilight. In other words, imaging will be difficult.
To make matters worse, this comet is visible until the end of June. There was an interesting article on the S&T website a few days ago.
Anthony.

Seanie,
Unfortunately the circumstances surrounding this comet are not very good. Do your best over the next month to do as much as you can since it will be lights-out thereafter.
