Bad LPS Light was created by JohnONeill
Hi,
Its used to be nice & dark, now my back garden (in Rush) is nearly all illuminated by a LPS street light.
Any ideas?
John

Black widow catapults work ok. They are quieter than BB guns, and a lot less obvious than hunting rifles.

On a more serious note, the following is a link to a document in An Bord Pleanala.
Two years ago a Galwegian took on Galway County Council over a single street-light, demanding that proper planning permission be obtained.
He lost....but give him a medal for trying.
(Or maybe a black widow!)
The planners ruled that street-lights are "Exempt Development" which means (as far as I know) that local authorities can put up street-lights anywhere they like without consulting anybody.
See:
www.pleanala.ie/REP/RL2/RRL2128.DOC
(Seven densely written pages over one street light !)
The battle is being lost, simple as that.
Peter.

Sorry to hear about that John. Not entirely - do what I did - build a light shield !!!
Mine is 7ft high, 6ft wide. made simply of a wooden rectangle, bolted up with 90 degree brackets, and a stand to support it underneath. I have two handles to carry it back and forth, it's light, and cost me all of 20 Euro, the structure is covered with thick plastic bags...

Just make out where you need to put it, and work from there, also have a good place to store it out of the wind !
Mind at ease.

John,
Local lights only cause a major problem if its shining directly on your setup. Its the glow of all the lights in dublin illuminating the skay thats the real problem. As suggested a shield will solve the immediate problem.
