One small victory over light pollution was created by Dublinskywatch
The local Dublin corporation answered my call against LP recently.
They fitted a guard around the offending light outside my property. Has made a huge difference to my viewing.
A nicely wrote email can be fruitful in results...so don't be afraid to contact them and remember be polite and great things can happen...:)

Nice to see the Corpo will do something.

Did you actually tell them it was light pollution intefering with your astronomy? I thought they would shield a light if it was stopping you sleeping or something like that.

Michael.

It was done on the bases of light pollution falling on my property.
They at no point indicated it could not be done because it was light pollution.
As long as the light to the street below was not affected they had no problems.
They really were most helpful to be honest. They seemed pleased to have helped..:)

Glad to hear that Dublinskywatch. How long did it actually take between your email and their action?

That's good to hear.
If one COCO can do it surely others can and should if requested.
I've lost track of how many times I've read on these boards
people having problems with a light outside thier home.

Between the time of the first email and the time they fitted the guard around the light was no more then about 3 weeks at most.
They were very quick in my opinion. I reckon it has cut down 100% direct light on my observing area and 75% indirect light. I will appreciate it more in the Autumn?Winter time, which is when I spend most time out side.
But very pleased and happy with the out come...:)
