Light Pollution Meter Data

Hi,

Some time ago I mentioned that I had finally managed to set up my IYA 2009 light pollution meter. And despite a couple of glitches (well one main one - not noticing that the computer in the attic had crashed for a month!), I now have some data to look at.

The specification of the meter can be found at lightmeter.astronomy2009.at (use login Guest and IYA2009). Basically the unit records the temperature, and has 3 lightmeters to measure sky brightness to enable measurement of sky brightness in dark night skies as well as daylight.

I don't have a lot of time to devote to hunting through the data so as well as uploading it to the central project database I thought I'd make the raw data available on my website as well in case anyone here is interested in looking though it.

The data in the links below is not calibrated, so it cant be used to accurately compare with other stations.

Interesting charts.
I note that you were able to record sub-zero temperatures. When mine records a temperature below zero, it goes a bit strange and gives a reading of 511degrees. Did you update your driver?
I see some of the details re uploading and calibration have changed since I last visited the site. I will give these a go now.

The sub zero temperatures is a known bug. Subtract 512 from any readings like that.

I noticed the changes on the site but havent got around to sorting out the calibration yet unfortunately. Let me know how you get on.
