I love these isolated mountain peaks on the Moon. I am sorry I could not use a higher magnification on Friday night -I may have seen some rilles in the area too. The haze got stronger as we increased to 140X. I might have enjoyed using 225X. It is great we could see Mons Herodotus between 1.2 and 1.6 kms tall -the Moon is about 240,000 miles from Earth.

By the way, have you and I met in the past?

Might have met before but I don't think so. I go to a few events but not many - have booked Galway hotel already this year.

Yes, rather unbelievable that we can pick out objects only a few kilometres wide from the back garden at that distance and all it is all just a reflection. That drawing I did was to scale and it was 20 000 000 to 1 : )
Talk of haze just brought the fog in but will stay up and hope it passes and can still see most of the moon.
