I've just managed to spot Mercury with the naked eye very low down in the Northwest. It forms an elongated right angled triangle with Venus and the crescent moon. It is easy in binoculars if you know exactly where to look.

Wow! Well done, Patricia.
You must be the 1st person in Ireland to see Mercury. It is -1.2 magnitude. That is almost as bright as Sirius.
I want to observe it once again as I did in January 2015.
Aubrey.
