ISS sighting -26 July 2017 was created by flt158
Good evening, all.
I had a very brief observing session last Friday night 26th July.
From about 10 pm, I split a few well known double stars; such as Epsilon 1, 2 Lyrae, Zeta Lyrae, Izar and Rasalgethi.
Vega was a lovely silvery blue almost overhead at 40X with its faint magnitude 10 optical companion nearby.
However cloud cover soon made my time end far too quickly for my liking.
At 11 pm, my sky was completely overcast.
But a few minutes before this happened, the ISS made a dramatic appearance. And about 5 minutes before that, a bright satellite passed through Ophiuchus. It even passed very close to a wide double star called BU 1453 which I was observing at the time!
It was only on Monday morning, I figured out what the bright satellite was. There was no mention of it on www.heavens-above.com There was a change of the crew of astronauts over the weekend. Therefore it must have been the resupply craft that I seen on Friday. It has quite a few years since I had seen this occurrence before.
Thank you for reading this short report.
Aubrey.

Sorry, Neill.
But no. I regularly check Mayak's track on www.heavens-above.com
It appears that the Mayak is extremely low in the northern sky from my location from Dublin.
