That is a very fine image, Keith.
So it is still very much in Taurus.
Comet Wirtanen is nice and green over the Irish landscape.
And it is amazing you got it before it set in the west.
Kindest regards from Aubrey.

The moon is having a noticeable effect, more difficult to pick it out from the brighter background at the moment.

Not as bright as the last time I saw it (Saturday). Lots of patchy clouds around now and I keep kicking my camera tripod in the dark losing my polar alignment. I have forgotten just how hard setting up a tracking mount can be. Had enough now

Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

Got to see it last night using my 20x90 binoculars. It is a large object, though very diffuse. The coma is very noticeable, I could see no sign of a nucleus or tail. 8 day old moon and less than ideal seeing did not help.

Had a look using a 120mm refractor last night. Same conclusion as everyone else, visually it appeared as a relatively faint, extended smear without a clear nucleus or tail. The bright moon and light pollution didn't help, but disappointing nonetheless. The images posted in this thread capture it far better than my visual observation.
