Comet Iwamoto

Had my first look at this last night, not far from Zaniah in Virgo. Easily visible in 20 x 80 binos, a diffuse tail-less fuzzball around mag 7.5. Currently at 35 million miles from Earth a week away from closest approach.

Yes there is something magical about comets Aubrey.... the greatest sight I've seen in the night sky was Hyakutake back in 1996 and I don't expect to see anything greater.... Didn't even have a camera in those days

Hyakutake was one of the best naked eye sights I will never forget either gents, here's hoping for another one soon .

I remember it heading towards the sun with it's tail reaching back towards planet Earth, during the evening twilight, knowing that it would be the very last time I would see it.

Iwamoto may not be as dramatic, but I'll look for it this week, although the moon phase is growing.

Iwamoto just outside of naked eye visibility range currently, may not become naked eye visible. Saw a guide to all comets in 2019 (nothing too exciting I am afraid). Would provide link but there seems to be gremlins in the system.
