Finally got clear skies for the 2.40am pass this morning. Five or six visible at around mag 4.5, one of which rose to app mag 2.5. Quite a cool sight actually, reminded me of Kemble's cascade. At this brightness I doubt if they will catch the attention of the general public, unless they know which area of the sky to look for. And the train is supposed to get fainter as the orbit rises. But with further launches planned, the impact on astrophotography is another matter...

So these are the ones Elon Musk manufactured, Finbarr.
I'm pleased you discovered and saw them.
Hopefully they will not cause any havoc to astrophotographers.
Over here in Dublin we have had very few clear nights for over a week now.

i read that there are supposed to be something link 12000 of these. Amazon are supposed also to be launching another 3000 of their own.
