Cloudy fireball

It doesn't add much to the excellent footage that others with clearer skies have provided, but the fireball that everyone is talking about from Monday night was captured on my system. Tough to estimate from the reflections on cloud, but possibly mag -8, duration app 4 seconds, travelling from Pisces to Aquarius.

Very many thanks for sharing this video Finbarr. I was out the back garden with my daughter when it flew across the sky. We managed to catch a glimpse of it - in the right place at the right time!

Wow that was a lucky catch Darren, well done! Skies seemed rather variable around the country; I was quite surprised by the number of reports from Munster as here in Limerick I was completely overcast half an hour later. I hear Dunsink was clouded out also. Late October/early November has produced a number of fireballs over the years, linked to the Taurid stream. I think the best fireball recorded from Ireland was also from that source, captured by Michael O'Connell:

What an amazing video of the fireball! That's good to know about Oct/Nov each year, I wonder if we'll see any more this month.
