Hello all.

As some of you may know, Steve Smith has given me the mathematical formula which has enabled me to work out the distances of the 9 carbon stars I have observed in Cassiopeia.

The formula is: Light Year = [1/ (parallax / 1000) ] x 3.26

Using Simbad I can now reveal the following results.

1. X Cas = 4158 light years.

2. ST Cas = 6365 light years.

3. V623 Cas = 1841 light years.

4. W Cas = 5018 light years.

5. WZ Cas = 1592 light years.

6. NQ Cas = 4418 light years.

7. WW Cas = 3572 light years.

8. C* 3205 (Tyc 3651-650-1) = 11911 light years.

9. IRAS 01185+5121 = 12800 light years.

I have rounded up each distance to the nearest light year.

I'm sure you will agree with me what an extraordinary galaxy we live in!!
Those last 2 carbons are way out in the depths of space.

As a result, I will be issuing the distances of each carbon in the future.
All thanks to Steve and Simbad.

Clear skies (after Storm Ciara) from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,

Very many thanks for bringing this formula to us. I tried it out on couple of stars using info contained in SIMBAD, and cross-checked the math with some other sources, and it worked!

Thanks again,

Darren.
