When you do observe Izar you won't regret it Darren, they don't call itĀ Pulcherrima (Most Beautiful) for nothing. The finest double star in the sky imo.

Yes, Finbarr.
It definitely is one of the very best doubles in the entire sky.
Use 150X or more magnification on it, Darren.
Once I observe Izar it becomes a strong favourite for 9 months to come.
I have even observed before sunset about 3 years ago now.
Clear skies for Sunday night,
Aubrey.

Hi Finbarr and Aubrey,
You have provided real impetus for me to observe Izar, soĀ I'm now very excited to split it.
Hopefully we get that clear sky tomorrow evening.
Clear skies,
Darren.Ā

Hi Darren.
You will recognise Izar when you notice there is a reasonably bright red star to its immediate south. That star is called W or 34 Bootis. It is a slightly variable star of 4.8 in magnitude.
It always convinces me I have found Izar.
Clear skies on Sunday night!
I hope to set up my scope way before sunset to observe Venus which now has a magnitude of -4.5 -getting brighter all the time.
Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,
Very many thanks for pointing me in the direction of Izar. I will set-up in approximately an hour, and I'm planning to be observing once the mirror cools down.Ā
Those clear skies have arrived, and I hope you're enjoying them.Ā
All the best,Ā
Darren.Ā
