Just a quick message to say a big 'thank you' for the instructions you provided on mirror cleaning. I decided to clean the primary today and I'm very happy with the results. To give you an idea I've attached a before and after photo.

Now I just a clear sky to see the benefit.

It was nerving-wracking at times, particularly when putting the mirror back into the tube. It needed a little bit of encouragement, but thankfully I managed to get it done without damaging the primary.

I am discovering my William Optics 70 mm F/6 small apo needs a good clean too, Darren.
I'm thinking of doing it tonight Good Friday.
Thankfully I will not have to remove the lens from its tube.
I'll probably do the same job on the main lens while I'm at it.

Rain is supposed to be coming during the daytime hours.

Hi Aubrey,

If you did clean the lens on your refractor tonight, I hope it went well. Apart of having to remove a mirror with a reflector, is there much difference when cleaning a refractor?

Hi Darren.
I am planning on cleaning my lenses right now on Saturday afternoon. 
Recently I had discovered a very old film called "The Gospel according to St. Matthew" was put on You Tube complete with English subtitles. The film was made back in 1964 by an Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini. So Valerie and I watched it instead. I would recommend it to anyone. All the actors and actresses were and are amateurs. It last 2 hour 10 minutes. Thankfully it was a cloudy night over Dublin.
Anyway I have cleaned my lenses many times since I bought it in 2009. No cotton wool is required. There is a very special spray which needs to be used. I will inform you of its name later.
But it is not to be used on reflectors at all. 

I can't wait to "savage" my Easter egg on Easter Sunday.
