TYC 3658 1671 carbon star observed was created by flt158
Hello all.

I had my William Optics 158 mm F/7 apochromatic refractor in my back garden again on Tuesday night 19th October 2021.

Before the high clouds arrived I set out to observe another carbon star in Cassiopeia whose designation is TYC 3658 1671 or GSC 3658 1671.

Its spectral class is C -R which seems to mean the star's metallicity is a bit stronger than normal.

Any comments are very welcome on this issue. Thank you.

The Right Ascension is: 00h 31m 29.14s.

The Declination is: +54 degrees 49m 42.33s.

The magnitude doesn't seem to vary: +10.3 all the time.

Guide 9.1 DVD provided me with a Johnson colour: 1.317.

TYC 3658 1671 has a brighter 9.3 magnitude orange star to its north called TYC 3658 2228.

I could see TYC 3658 1671 at just 40X.

But as I increased the magnifications up to 280X I was very pleased to see it is a fairly rich orange carbon star.

Therefore I would recommend to you all.

I am very pleased to state it is my 22nd observed carbon star in Cassiopeia.
And my 108th overall.

Thank you for reading.

Clear skies from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,

Congratulations on observation of your 108th carbon star.

Your description of it was very good indeed.

Clear skies,

Darren.
