A Lunk of Sanctuary was created by Until_then-Goodnight!
In the year 2268, a Lunk of Sanctuary attacked Spock as he was trying to swim to the shore of Khyming.
For a moment there tonight I thought I was observing one of these snail like creatures, however it was just a run of the mill snail from planet earth
I've no idea how he got into the scope as the dust cap was on...taking the mirror out provided me with the chance to give it a nice clean though...silver linings and all that, hey!

What an extraordinary event that was, Darren, finding a snail inside your telescope.
It reminds me of the time when I found the tiniest snail inside an eyepiece.
This also occurred with the snail buried in under the cap of the eyepiece.
I was observing the Moon at the time, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong!
Still I had to thoroughly clean the eyepiece before I proceeded.
I admired your analogy with Spock in Star Trek.
I have a hectic week coming up. And we are due quite a number of cloudy nights.
Maybe by next weekend we will have some clear skies again.
Very best regards from Aubrey.

Hi Aubrey,
Two weeks since I last posted here - where does the time go?
So, it isn't just me who have found that snails are keen to observers too : )
Clear skies,
Darren.
