is this a first by an Irish amateur astronomer? John O'Neill observed the occultation of a magnitude 11.2 star by the asteroid Miriam last weekend and successfully timed the event. It's a pretty amazing feat considering how infrequently the track of such events fall favourably for our small Ireland. Well done John!
