hi all,
succeeded in catching Venus this morning which meant seeing it both as an evening and morning planet in the same month. Not that often such an opportunity arises . . . partly because of cloudy skies and more often because of my laziness in getting up so early
because the planet has a high northerly declination at the moment it places it well above the horizon ahead of sunrise. The crescent was beautiful in the 20x60mm at 7am from Sandymount while it was also nice to catch Jupiter in the brightening dawn too.
I hope to do up a more detailed article for the next Arcturus on the visibility of Venus.
atb,
John

coruscations attending the whole length of the luminosity, giving to the phenomena the aspect of a wrathful messenger, and not that of a tranquil body pursuing a harmless course..comet of 1680

Got spectacular views of Venus on Monday and Tuesday morning. Eeven took my life in my hands having a good gawk out the window as we sped up the N7 at 7.00am! Actually, come to think of it, we first spotted it on Thursday morning of last week. Nice to have it back.
