Amazing Rainbow

Hi all

Ay 18.20 this evening a stunning rainbow appeared in the N - E sky sector. Very large with primary and secondary bows and supernumerary arcs. The eastern base of the bow was so bright it was like a dream!

Here are my images of the display which lasted for approx 10 mins...

That looks impressive! Also a very angry lookign sky!

wow that was verry sharp, did it look like that also or did the camera pic it up better?

It looked exactly like that with the eye!

Nice pics! Must be the season for amazing rainbows. I witnessed a beautiful rainbow on Saturday evening about 6.35pm driving along the Sandymount Road which overlooks Dublin Bay. The rainbow was really bright on the western side of the arc. It too had a secondary bow, the colours reversed as usual. However, the most amazing sight was the shafts of light emanating from the eastern horizon over the sea in the centre of the rainbow. These are caused by sunlight streaming through clouds on the opposite side of the sky and because of perspective, appear to converge at the anti-solar point, i.e at the centre of the bow. Didn't have my camera with me unfortunately.
