Moyola Observing Session was created by martinastro
Conor and i had a great observing session last night. We travelled several miles outside of town to the Moyola River and spent from 00.00 - 03.30 observing from the bank of a beautiful lake complete with plenty of wildlife/nocturnal birds to keep us company. The Crescent moon with earthshine, Mars, Castor and Pollux were a beautiful sight in the western sky. Heres several of my images (the star below the moon is Kappa Geminorum)...

The sky was in good shape with excellent trans and with the milkyway faintly visible in a semi dark sky despite the bright twilight throughout the night. We seen a stunning mag 0 sporadic meteor move from N to S, rusty/red in colour with 2 large 'flakes' of material falling from its rear for a duration of 2 -3 secs.

It was a good night and a long walk home!
