Such a low Moon below Jupiter... was created by Seanie_Morris
While out for a little while observing last night, I still could not get over just how low below the ecliptic the Moon has been at this time in its cycle! For the past couple of nights, watching it traverse the sky, it did look like it would pass close by (as it should under normal circumstances). But I'm still gobsmacked by the distance between the pair during conjunction last night.

Yes, it was absolutely beautiful yesterday evening, wasn't it! The pale moon in a soft blue sky which faded to purple/pink on the horizon, with Jupiter directly above it - just stunning!

Yes it was just wonderful, I was almost sitting on the ground sketching the moon, and had to keep moving the telescope to avoid tress and bushes.

It was indeed stunning and has been attracting the attention of non-astronomers too. Got a phone call from a mate asking "what's that really bright thing near the Moon?" ... and he was in Galways city!

Anyone notice the transit of Ganymedes shadow across it around 11pm?, it was really prominent, the GRS came into view at around 2am, there seemed to be abit more wind last night also.
The moon was stunning, it was unusual to see the planet actually above the moon, its an unusual perspective we dont often see.
