10 Minute Sketch
While in Arlington at a public star party in the University campus how could I resist the opportunity to sketch from the eyepiece.
Earlier that day Larry Smith executive director of the 3 Rivers Foundation
www.3rf.org/ drove me to a shop where I could buy this wonderful sketching paper Rite in the Rain, its resistant to damp and has a lovely surface, takes pencil very well. It was one of the items unobtainable here that I wanted :-)
Anyway it was a public star party and I just gave it 10 minutes as there were people waiting to check out the moon.
I just had to have a sketch to bring back for my collection so I did a fast one under duress of onlookers and 100 degree heat.
I had a superb time in Dallas, wonderful people, wonderful hosts, super experience. I will write an article about it soon.

In large sizes its hard to get, but several of the camping shops in Dublin stock notepads of the stuff.

If there is interest we could look at a bulk order and possibly getting it customised...
Any interest?

Good idea. Considering Winter skies are the best, there can be a lot of dew. Many a time when I've done astronomical sketching from the eyepiece that paper began to wilt on me... and on one occasion, a pen froze!
But back to the paper - I'd be interested if we get enough numbers to make an order.
