Very bright meteor Friday evening? was created by Krusty
Hi all,
I was driving home to Ennis from Shannon on Friday evening last. Sun had just set, but the sky was still blue.
While headed NNW, we saw a beautiful long and very bright meteor @ 16:52. I've never seen one against a blue sky before.... fantastic.
It was falling pretty much bang on a Northerly direction.... coming from just overhead and south....if that makes sense
Anyone else see it? :

Unfortunately not, it must have been spectacular to have been seen against a blue sky !

Hi again,
Saw a fantastic fireball yesterday evening at 17:17. It went from east to west, and stayed in view for at least 3 seconds! Magic! Bright white head, with a good long tail, and lots of bits falling off it.
Crazy thing is we spotted it at the exact same piece of road as my previous observation!
Heard on the radio later on lastnight some woman phoned in and reported the identical fireball. She observed it from Dublin(reported the time as 17:20), and gave it the same description. Nice to know someone else saw it too

Hi All, I too observed the Fireball spectacle on Monday evening between 17:00 and 18:00. I was just coming off roundabout at end of N2 north of Ashbourne heading north. The sky above was clear. It seemed very close and low to me and resembled a burning ball of tar. Very long tail suggested a low angle to the atmosphere! It was travelling from East to West.
Most amazing stellular body I've ever seen.

Anyone catch the one Sunday night?
Near midnight I saw some bright streak out the window maybe traveling due West, slightly the Southern direction.
I didn't pay much attention since there's a road outside I just thought it might be a reflection of a car light or motorbike. Then surprise surprise it seems to be all over the news today
Seen as far as Cork and Donegal, Moore's AI seems to be all over the story in the Independent perhaps Sir Anthony would like to add one of these rocks to his collection :silly:

Yeah, see the thread right below this one!
Seems, a lot of people have their compass points mixed up. It traveled west to east.
I see AI's David Moore who seems to be the Medias goto guy wants to see did it make landfall. I can assure everyone it didn't. I'm 100 yards from the sea in Bray on the east coast. It definatley landed in the see if in fact any debris survived that long
