Spent an hour tonight from 11 - 12 midnight Geminid watching
and running 30sec exposures one after another.

Saw 4 nice bright ones Mag -1 / -2

One went straight thru Orion and ended at Rigel
and a second later another shot south from Auriga, passing thru
Gemini burning out just to the right of Pollux.

After checkin my shots, Hoping that I had cought this double,
I only cought a faint trail of the second one cutting thru Gemini (Possibly a sporadic?)

Urgh..so close!

Here's for good weather on Wednesday for the maximum!

I went to Cratloe hill last night with a few friends between 10pm and 11.30 and counted 19 meteors, atleast 3 were > -1 magnitude, they were all short, one even appeared to have a yellow colour, most of them were average speed while one in particular was very slow, definitely worth the trip :P

Is there any chance of it been clear early Thursday morning for maximum.??Is the peak at 4am on Thursday morning ??

Hi all,

According to the International Meteor Organisation, its at 10:45 on thursday morning with a margin of error of 2 hours either way, so some time between 8:45 and 12:45.

I left my house to go running about 10:40 last night and while coming down towards the start of the Vico road in Dalkey I saw what I first thought was a white firework go through the sky. I quickly realised it wasn't, that it was more like a shooting star except that it was a LOT bigger and brighter. It burned out after a couple of seconds but the experience left me totally gobsmacked! Also, it was completely silent around there and I swear I heard the sound of it passing overhead.....but of course maybe that was my imagination...

Hey Dave,
I wonder would it be worth the effort to organise a meteor watch?
(weather permitting of course!)

Thanks Neill for the time.

Hi Bobby,
there have been reports of noises with some meteors, its not impossible you actually heard it, it must have been spectacular.

Hi Frank,
I was thinking the same thing, I was thinking in of the early hours of thursday morning, the weather forecast looks abit wild though, I'll decide on what I'm going to be doing then on Wednesday evening/night, maybe you can send me a pm of your mobile number, it makes organising things abit easier.
