Finally, some Sun activity - while its sunny! (Wed Jan 10th)

Had a good ole look at the sun just now with the 8-24 X 50's, and there is a, well, whopper of a sunspot to be seen right-of-center on the disc. It is really nice to see the sun again...

Thanks for the heads up Seanie

Just had a look also. Its a nice one alright. There is also a spot just about to slip over the edge and another small one, which I just about picked up in the 10X50's (with filters) hand held. I always look at www.spaceweather.com/ before I go out to give me an idea of what to expect.

Hi john

I used baader astrsolar film. It is a thin sheet of foil that you can make into filters to fit scopes/binocs etc.

Should be able to get it from any dealer for about €20 per a4 sheet.
