Programming today is a race between software engineers striving to build bigger and better programs, and the universe trying to produce bigger and better idiots. So far, the universe is winning.

I agree Bart, I believe that it was a 4, the colour wasn't that brick red that comes with a 3, it was definitely a copper colour.

From where I stood it looked like a 3 for sure.
Very rich red at times.

At time it look like a copper colour while at mid totality it looked weakly red, my observations are not totally reliable as I was looking at it through haze which made it almost invisible at times.

I agree. It was relatively difficult to see the colour well at work because of all the arc lights and street lamps, but I took a stroll down the road to a darker spot for mid-totality and it certainly looked like a 4 from there.

Bart,
Definitely a 4. I know a camera doesn't show the naked eye view, and an 8 second exposure is even worse but from a colour point of view 4 sounds bang on. This was at mid totality by my reckoning around 23:24, no processing on the shot below:

Dee,
There definitely was a green hue to the retreating shadow, I captured it in the shot below at 00:05:50, no processing in this either:

Actually during between 00:10UT and 00:35UT while making a second sketch. I observed and sketched the retreating shadow as having a green tint to its edge,is it possible that yellow and blue photons mixed to give this hue, just like colours mix together to make new colours ???????????
